At least 50 MLAs of Congress, NCP Connected with BJP: Girish Mahajan

Senior BJP leader and Maharashtra Water Resources Minister, Girish Mahajan, on July 28 maintained at least 50 MLAs of the Congress and the NCP have been in contact with all the ruling party to change ahead of the elections, due later this season.

Mahajan's remarks came against the background of a series of leaders out of Sharad Pawar-led NCP deserting their parent celebration in yesteryear.

"Some 50 MLAs of both Congress and NCP are connected with the BJP. Senior NCP pioneer Chitra Wagh had voiced her desire to join BJP per month ago, claiming she had no potential left her parent celebration. The MLAs are asking that they desired to combine the BJP before the elections. . .The Congress is at the shambles and within another few months, the NCP will seem poorer," Mahajan said.

NCP leaders Sachin Ahir, the Mumbai unit leader of this party and former minister, Chitra Wagh, the girls wing president of this party, have stopped the NCP. Ahir has joined the Shiv Sena. NCP MLA Vaibhav Pichad has also voiced his desire to join the BJP.

"He (Pawar) is levelling these allegations to pay his own political collapse. We haven't threatened any or pressurised any boss," he explained.

The minister, considered to be a confidante of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, also defended the raids conducted by Revenue Tax sleuths on NCP leader and former minister Hasan Mushrif, stating the action was lawful rather than from any political vengeance.

Meanwhile, the sources said that a large number of corporators, such as Mayor of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Sandeep Naik, could change over to the BJP in the NCP.

"Thousands of corporators on Sunday held a meeting in Navi Mumbai and sentenced to Sandeep Naik to combine the BJP before elections. If this occurs, the BJP won't just gain a solid candidate, but it is going to also develop into power from the civic body also," said sources near the development.

Speculation is also speculated that the Naik senior could also cross over to the BJP.
